About us

Our purpose is to minister the love, grace, and salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ through His death, burial, and resurrection, which will bring hope to the people of Sun Prairie and its surrounding areas. As the Church of Hope of Sun Prairie, we pattern ourselves after the first church as described in the Book of Acts. We believe in continuing "steadfastly in the Apostles' doctrine." We believe that our lifestyles should reflect our commitment through prayer, devotion, and discipleship. We believe that our worship entertains the presence of God. Our church is a place where you can be edified, exhorted, and comforted in the Spirit of God.

our BELIEFS

The Bible is the Word of God written through men who were divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit to write the original Old and New Testament manuscripts. It gives the true account of creation, the destiny of man, and God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is the final authority on all things pertaining to the church. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21)

The One and True Living God is the Creator of all things, the eternal Father, omnipresent, all-knowing, and all-powerful. (Deuteronomy 6:4, I Timothy 1:17) He is the source of all goodness, truth, love, and every good gift, including the gift of salvation. (I John 4:8, James 1:17) He has manifested Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ, for the purpose of redeeming people from their sin, and through the Holy Spirit to keep, comfort, and sustain those who obey the Gospel message. (John 14:26, I Timothy 3:16)

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is God's "good news" of salvation to all people. It declares that Jesus was the only begotten Son of God, born of a virgin, lived a life free from sin, and became the perfect sacrifice - bearing the punishment for our sin. (Luke 1:34-35, I Peter 3:18) Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried in a tomb, was resurrected on the third day, and is now exalted as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Jesus was fully-man and fully-God, for in Him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. (I Corinthians 15:1-4, Colossians 2:9)

The Plan of Salvation, which was given to the first church, is as true and as powerful as the day the Apostles proclaimed it on the Day of Pentecost 2,000 years ago. It consists of true belief in Jesus Christ as Savior, sincere repentance for sin, baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, as evidenced by the supernatural experience of speaking in tongues. (Acts 2:1-39) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

A Life of Holiness is a result, both inwardly and outwardly, of the continued working of God's unconditional love and grace in our lives. The Word of God calls us to forsake sin and to walk in righteousness after the "new man" through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. (Leviticus 20:7, Ephesians 4:21-24, II Timothy 2:19)

Genuine Christianity is expressed and practiced by loving God and other people, obedience to the Word of God, sincere praise and worship, witnessing to others, commitment and faithfulness to our marriages, families, and friends, and willingness to help those in need. We believe in honoring and respecting the authority placed over us, whether government, national leaders, or employers as it submits to God's Word. We believe that our time, talents, and treasure should be used to advance the Kingdom of God, doing all things "heartily, as to the Lord." (Mark 12:29-30, Romans 12, Colossians 3-4)

The Church was instituted by the Lord Jesus and is made up of the "body" of believers to be the body of Christ in the world today, with Christ as the "head". It provides necessary fellowship among believers, an outlet to serve God and other people, and an opportunity to worship God in unity. It is vital for every believer to be a part of the church body, manifesting the same supernatural power and spiritual gifts which exemplified the early church and Jesus Himself. (I Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4:4-16, 5:23)

At the return of Jesus Christ, when the trump of God will sound, those who have died in Christ and those who are alive in Christ will be raised up in immortality to meet our Lord Jesus in the air and spend eternity with Him. This is that glorious appearing and blessed hope that we look for. (I Corinthians 15:51-55, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Titus 2:13)

At the Judgment, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, the wicked will receive their punishment and the righteous will receive their reward, and eternal triumph of righteousness will be accomplished. (Romans 14:10-12, I Corinthians 3:12-15, Revelation 20:12-21:8)
